Anyway, would like to share some good news. A month ago (6/6/12), I presented a poster at the PC*CAT, a postgraduate conference khas utk bidang computing applications and tools. It was just a small conference, yg mana Uni Plymouth jd tuan rumah pada tahun ni (gilir2 dgn uni2 di South West). Mula2 x amik port, tp atas galakan sorg member aku yg mengatakan alang2 material dah ada (from Cognitive Institute Open Day hari tu), elok masuk aje, maka aku pon cuba2 la menghantar poster. Nak hantar full paper, malas la plak rasa nya, nak simpan bahan utk a publication with more weight, insya Allah. But since poster adalah lebih santai, maka submit lah...
The conference was quite informative. It covered quite a broad area, so x de la 100% relevant to my work, but it was refreshing for me sbb most of the conferences I attended were music computing related, and sesekali dpt 'lari' drpd tema itu and berbalik kpd Computing 'pure', terasa juggling la jgk otak.
Poster session plak ada 3 waktu, so mmg x leh nak lari, asal break aje kena jaga poster. Sbnarnya, ada juri yg akan mengadili poster session ni, tu yg mmg kena terpacak menjaga poster tu. Aku rasa chance nak menang tu mmg tipis la, apatah lg markah tu split 50% jury, 50% public voting. Alahai, aku ni dtg lone ranger (x de sapa dlm lab or org2 yg aku kenal pon attended, x mcm bbrp peserta lain yg mmg drpd lab sama, or negara sama), so apa lah peluang aku nak menang kan. Tapi mmg aku pushed jgk la bersungguh2 'kempen' dgn semua org yg lalu lalang tentang projek aku tuh. Pantang ada org tenung poster aku je terus aku sergah dari blkg ajak borak hehehe... Well, you've got to put some effort right?
Alhamdulillah, siapa sangka, best poster award menjadi milik aku in the end. Mmg sgt2 x sangka, but mungkin inilah yg dinamakan rezeki. Lebih2 lg award ni melibatkan hadiah berupa £100, anjuran the Society of the Arti*ficial Intelligence and Simu*lation Behavior (AI*SB), syukur yg tidak terhingga pada Mu ya Allah!
