Leave the Negatives Behind

Some stupid array of events happened today at work that got me all worked up. Needless to say, by 5 pm, I was ready to curse just about anything or anyone that crossed my path. I left the office at 5 pm sharp, and made my way to pick Ayna up from the minder. She was in a jolly good mod and in less than 5 minutes, she fell asleep in her rear facing car seat in the back seat of the car. This was a huge relief and blessings, it made the crawling traffic much more bearable than normal.

As I approached Aisyah's school to pick her up, I made a mental note leave all negativity behind. After all, God had given me a break without the usual baby wailing at the back and thus had a much needed relaxed drive.  I spotted her in the field, playing ball with her friends. She had gotten good at catching and throwing the ball, and made even more friends. As I walked to her, she'd said good bye to her friends and walked with me hand in hand. 'You're in a cheery mood, Mummy'. Oh, if only she knew how rubbish the day was just half an hour ago.

I'm sharing this as today's reflection to remind myself that kindness is contagious and that children are truly blessing. Work will forever be unfinished, but you only have one chance at parenting. Thank goodness it's Friday. Time to be make up for all those lost moments with the kiddos.

Have a great weekend!
